Overview

Located on Av. Fairmount O in the heart of Montréal, Kem CoBa is a must-visit ice cream shop for anyone eager to explore vibrant and unique frozen delights. Specializing in both classic and adventurous flavors, the shop offers a rich variety from soft serve cones to exotic sorbets and gelatos that capture the city's diverse culinary spirit.

Kem CoBa stands out with its intriguing flavor lineup. The soft ice cream cone, a perennial favorite, delivers a creamy, perfectly textured base that complements more unusual choices like durian ice cream or soursop gelato. The latter has earned loyal fans such as Hilary Hoang, who regards it as the ultimate Montréal treat. Beyond tropical fruits, their range extends to floral and spiced notes with options like eau de rose, Indian chai tea, and the nuanced pandan flavor, which Christophe Gaboury praised for its authentic taste.

The menu speaks to adventurous palates, balancing well-known staples like strawberry and chocolate with inventive blends such as praline noisette & lime or salty butter ice cream. Sorbets—mango and raspberry & rose, for instance—are light, refreshing choices ideal for warm days, as highlighted by Katya R’s experience. Kem CoBa also excels with subtle dessert accompaniments like dulce de leche and honey with orange blossom, further enhancing the tasting journey.

The shop’s atmosphere mirrors its bustling reputation. While lines during peak hours can be substantial, they move swiftly thanks to attentive staff. Elaine Gilfillan’s encounter with manageable weekday crowds allowed for a relaxed sampling of the soft serve special, a perfect portion with balanced sweetness. Friendly service complements the vibrant setting, creating a welcoming space for locals, tourists, families, and ice cream aficionados alike.

For visitors seeking to savor more at home, Kem CoBa offers take-away pots featuring flavors like mango and corossol, enabling the experience of Montréal’s eclectic ice cream artistry beyond the shop walls.

A word to the wise: Kem CoBa operates on a cash-only basis, an important detail for first-timers planning their visit. With its location convenient for those exploring Montréal’s diverse neighborhoods, this spot caters well to adventurous eaters who appreciate quality and creativity in frozen desserts.

In sum, Kem CoBa is not just an ice cream store—it’s an invitation to taste Montréal’s culinary tapestry through a wide spectrum of flavors that surprise and delight, making each visit a memorable experience.

A trip to Montreal doesn’t feel complete without a stop at Kem CôBa. Skipping it would feel like I didn’t really visit the city! Their ice cream is always a must-have. My top 1 always the Soursop flavors!!!

Pretty tasty ice cream and gelato. Also a lot of interesting flavours in there. The service also seems pretty fast, though the place is quite popular so a line up can come fast. Tried the Pandan flavoured ice cream and it was really good. It really had the Pandan flavoured in there. The other flavours were also nice and refreshing. Both the fruit flavours like mango and raspberry. And also the mixed flavours like lime and mint. Overall pretty tasty.

This spot can have HUGE lines, thankfully when we went there were only a few people (weekday afternoon). We got the soft serve special and it was DELICIOUS and the perfect size. I feel like it was more I would get sick from the sweetness. Totally worth the stop!

Delicious and so refreshing. Love the variety of flavours. We tried the limited time blueberry honey and it was incredible. The Raspberry rose was divine and the pandan was very interesting! we will be going back to try more flavours the next time we visit the area. Note that the establishment is cash only.

Cute ice cream place. The sorbet was very yummy. I got half mango and half raspberry & rose. Interesting flavours but very delicious. Perfect on a hot August day! The workers were also very friendly.

Kem Coba is the most famous ice cream shop in Mile-end. The ice cream is really good, with unique and novel flavors. It has different surprises every day. As for whether you can "bump" into your favorite, it depends on luck.

Hands down the best ice cream in Montreal. I finally tried Kem Coba after hearing the hype forever, and it more than delivered. I had the biweekly soft serve and it was unreal. Creamy, rich, just the perfect balance. Yes, there’s a line but it moves quite fast and honestly feels like part of the experience. The flavors are super creative, always changing, and everything tastes insanely fresh. If you love ice cream even a little, this place is life changing!

We were in Montreal for two days and we went to Kem Co Ba two times. We wanted to go more but we couldn’t! The ice cream and sorbet was out of this world. Texture on the chocolate 72 was silky smooth. Simply the best.
